Vi Phuong Nguyen

Candidate for Forest Lake

Hi, my name is Viv and I am your Greens candidate for Forest Lake.

My background is Vietnamese and I am proudly the daughter of immigrant parents and part of the LGBTIQA+ community. I grew up and have been part of the Inala community my entire life including attending Durack State School. I am happy to call myself a south sider, especially because of the multiculturalism and diversity in our area. I have a passion for social justice and will be a staunch advocate for the community, empowering people to get more involved in decisions being made on their behalf.

Forest Lake is a region growing in population that is calling out for key facilities and improved public services. Without a local pool in the area, and only a visiting library truck once a fortnight, our young people in particular are missing out on vital opportunities to connect and engage. Our community deserves better.

While corporate donors influence the major parties, you can rest assured knowing I will fight for our community because the Greens on Brisbane City Council will never take corporate donations and we won’t be bought out.

With your support for more Greens on council, we can push to create a more sustainable city, improve services and facilities like public pools and libraries, ensure better consultation and local decision making, and much more.
